Munch 150

Edvard Munch is famous as the man who painted The Scream, but less well known is the remarkable oeuvre that secures his place as one of the greatest artists of all time. When Norway celebrated the 150th anniversary of his birth in 2013, the National Museum and the Munch Museum, both in Oslo, cohosted Munch 150, bringing together more Munch works than ever before. This film shows the process of assembling the exhibition and provides an in-depth biography of a man whose life spanned the mid-19th century to the German occupation of Norway in World War II.

Young Picasso

“Exhibition on Screen” offers a well-deserved look at Pablo Picasso’s early years, from his upbringing to his education. Three cities play key roles: Málaga, Barcelona, and Paris. Young Picasso visits each location and explores their influence on Picasso, focusing on specific works of art and explaining how the young artist acquired his craft. Looking carefully at Picasso’s Blue Period and Rose Period, the film goes back to the 1907 creation of a critical painting in the history of art: Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, which shocked the art world and changed it irrevocably, when Picasso was only 25.
