Virtual Cinema “The Wolf House” and “New French Shorts 2020” May 30, 2020

This week, Virtual Cinema invites you to experience captivating international cinema. See a dystopian animated feature set in Chile, and a showcase of award-winning short films from France.

The Wolf House (La Casa Lobo)

Created by visual artists Joaquín Cociña and Cristóbal León, The Wolf House (La Casa Lobo) is an astonishingly eerie stop-motion animated feature inspired by a true story. Maria, a young woman in Chile seeking refuge after escaping a sect of German religious fanatics, encounters a house inhabited by two pigs. Like a Grimm's fairy tale, the dreamlike universe of the house reacts to Maria’s feelings—animals transform into humans, and the house becomes a nightmarish world. The Wolf House combines photography, drawing, sculpture, and dance into what the Washington Post calls a “stunning, haunting, unforgettable accomplishment.” Recommended for ages 13+
