“Hilariously honest” —Hollywood Reporter
The new French dramedy My Dog Stupid is an adaptation of a best-selling autobiographical novel by John Fante, a writer championed by poet Charles Bukowski.
My Dog Stupid follows Henri, a 50ish French novelist with writer’s block. After alienating his wife and their four adult children, Henri develops an unlikely companionship with an unruly, massive bullmastiff—much to the dismay of family and neighbors. Real-life couple Charlotte Gainsbourg and Yvan Attal (who also directed) star in this bittersweet and occasionally sarcastic film about love standing the test of time.
