A Girl Missing, from Japanese director Koji Fukada, follows the downfall of in-home nurse Ichiko (Mariko Tsutsui). Spending years caring for an ailing grandmother, Ichiko grows close to her patient’s family, including the woman’s two granddaughters, Motoko and Saki.
Ichiko’s quiet, routine life is shattered when Saki is suddenly abducted—and the suspect turns out to be Ichiko’s nephew. Though urged to remain silent about the connection, Ichiko unravels after a sensational article is published, revealing her secret.
