Let’s Make Monsters April 14, 2020

Let’s make monsters! Children and students will love this hands-on art-making activity inspired by a monumental sculpture in the MFAH collection of Latin American art.

Argentinean artist Antonio Berni made La sordidez (Sordidness) as part of the series “Cosmic Monsters.” He used materials that he found, such as bottle caps, wood, cardboard, plastic, roots, nails, steel, and iron.

The fun how-to video below guides families through the assembly of a DIY sculpting project, using trinkets and other materials you probably have at home.

Follow along with Elizabeth Roath Garcia, our studio and gallery programs manager—and let’s make monsters!
