Mexican Modernism: The Golden Age of Mexican Cinema

Mexico’s film industry blossomed in the 1940s and 1950s, a period known as the “Golden Age of Mexican Cinema.” This series, which features comedies, melodramas, film noir, and more, complements the exhibition Paint the Revolution: Mexican Modernism, 1910–1950.

Read a blog post about the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema from film scholar and MFAH Film Committee member Margarita De La Vega-Hurtado.

The films in this series were generously made available by the Cineteca Nacional de México.
