Virtual Cinema | “Kid Flicks” November 8, 2020

The popular annual Kid Flicks series features short films chosen from winners of the New York International Children’s Film Festival (NYICFF). This year brings a new compilation to delight the family: the Spanish-language ¡Viva Kid Flicks!

Kid Flicks One (ages 5+)
Tales from around the globe keep the dynamic of work and play lively. The loveable feline in Cat Lake City looks forward to a relaxing vacation but can’t catch a break. Effort and fun happily co-exist in The Magic of Chess, and a dawdling hard worker gets a little lost in the beautifully hand-animated countryside of Boriya.

Kid Flicks Two (ages 8+ / subtitles)
Surprises in a dumpling bring good luck and more in the lovely stop-motion animation The Coin. In The One You Never Forget, a young teen tries to keep his first date under wraps. A funky space van breaks down on an unknown planet hiding plenty of revelations in Home Away 3000.

¡Viva Kid Flicks! (ages 8+ / subtitles)
These short films from children’s perspectives speak volumes. 3Feet kicks things off in style with Gonzalo, who tries his hilarious best to keep things clean in order to stay in the game. A girl and her mom work through love and challenges in the charming stop-motion Ailín on the Moon. Things grow curiouser and curiouser in The Size of Things, a moving take on magical realism.
