Let’s get to (Pointillist) painting! Pointillism, developed in the late 19th century, is a painting technique in which tiny dots of color come together to form images and figures. One of the artists who practiced Pointillism was French painter Achille Laugé—as seen in La route (The Road), from the MFAH collection of European art.
With this art activity inspired by La route, kids at home can explore nature and make Pointillist paintings of their own. Take a closer look at the “confetti” Pointillist technique that Laugé used in his painting, then create your own masterpiece.
